Channel | 27K followers Engr. Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), is a distinguished academic leader and the Vice Chancellor, Quaid-i-Azam University since March 14, 2023. He did his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Leeds, UK, and an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Punjab. With a remarkable career spanning decades. Dr. Akhtar has more than 35-years of teaching & research experience, which has played a leading role in building quality conscious society. Previously, he has served as the Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab, Vice Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sahiwal, Vice Chancellor of Information and Technology University (ITU-Punjab), and Rector of the National Textile University, Faisalabad. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar is a prolific author, having authored and edited four books on quality assurance in higher education in Pakistan. He is also known for his research publications in various journals and services as the Editor of the Journal of Quality & Technology Management. Furthermore, Dr. Niaz was the Founder and Director of the Institute of Quality and Technology Management and Quality Enhancement Cell at the University of Punjab.
Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar also holds the position of Vice Chairman (Punjab) of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and serves on various PEC Committees for more than 10-years. Through his work for the accreditation of engineering degrees, Pakistan became a signatory of the Washington accord, which gave international recognition to Pakistani Engineers. He has been the winner of Institution of Engineers Pakistan's National Award of Excellence twice (2008 & 09).
