A viral video from Banyuwangi featuring a sofa in the background and the phrase "Yank Uwis Yank" or "Yank Wes Yank" is still widely searched by netizens on TikTok, X, and chat groups. Several posts even link the actors to students at MAN 3 Banyuwangi, although this information has not been officially confirmed. The case began with the circulation of several clips of obscene content allegedly involving students. The phrase "Yank Wes Yank" heard in one of the recordings later became a keyword, while the term "sofa video" emerged due to the living room setting seen in the clip. A search by BeritaDIY found around six recordings of varying durations, ranging from approximately 21 seconds to 8 minutes and 53 seconds. Its distribution is believed to have increased after one of the clips appeared in a TikTok live stream and was then shared via social media and chat apps. However, the claim that one of the actors is a student at MAN 3 Banyuwangi cannot yet be considered factual. The Banyuwangi Police have escalated the case to the investigation stage. Head of the Banyuwangi Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Commissioner Lanang Teguh Pambudi, stated that the report was received on July 20, 2026, and investigators then collected evidence and examined the case by paying attention to provisions regarding children in conflict with the law.
